Kristina won our first Family Photo Giveaway, and this summer I photographed her with Sofoklis and their girls, Adriana and Aliya.
We started at their home in Woodbridge, in the backyard and on the little bridge out front. Then we walked over to an ivy-covered wall near Market Lane, a wall of green that gave us a completely different backdrop without leaving the neighbourhood.
It took a couple of tries. Rain washed out our first date. The morning of the second looked just as gloomy, then by early afternoon it was bright and sunny. We started at 4 with the sun behind them, so the light stayed soft on everyone’s faces.
Kristina came with a photo she wanted to recreate, twice over: her with one daughter, Sofoklis with the other. We got both.
Home is an underrated place for family photos. Kids relax where they already feel safe, and it’s a backdrop you’ll still recognize in twenty years.
We absolutely loved our family photo shoot! The final photos are incredible, and I have so many favourites. Despite my family hating taking photos, Reza somehow kept everyone engaged and even got some genuine laughs, resulting in beautiful, natural shots. His ability to make people feel comfortable and capture authentic moments is truly special. Also no cheesy or cliche poses / pics …honestly just an amazing experience.
